Q: Who writes the books?
A: Both Motor Age Training and Mitchell 1 use ASE certified master technicians to write the study guides.
Q: How often are the books updated?
A: The books are revised and updated in correlation with the changing ASE task lists for each subject that are provided to us by ASE. Each subject is generally updated every 3 years.

Q: Are the study guides available in video or audiotape?
A: The Motor Age Training ASE Study Guides are not currently available on video or audiotape.
Q: Are the study guides available in any foreign language?
A: Not currently.
Q: How do the Motor Age Training ASE Study Guides differ from Mitchell 1?
A: Although the books have similar formats, the Motor Age guides contain more detailed subject matter including in-depth task lists, illustrations and multiple subheadings within each main topic, making it easier to find specific information. The Mitchell1 books offer less detailed subject matter, however, they offer a larger number of sample test questions.
Q: How long does it take to receive the books once I've ordered them?
A: Orders are processed and mailed within 48 hours of receipt, Monday through Thursday if the order is placed prior to 2:30 pm. (Delivery method dictates mailing time frames.)
Orders placed after 2:30 pm Monday through Thursday will be processed the next business day. An order placed after 2:30 pm on Thursday will be processed on Friday and shipped on Monday of the following week, excluding holidays.
Orders placed online on Saturday or Sunday will be shipped on Tuesday of the following business week, with the exception of weeks that contain a holiday on Monday of that week.
Canadian customers, please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery.
Orders being sent to AP/APO addresses are shipped via USPS and will take up to 7-10 business days to arrive.
Q: How do I register to take the tests?

Q: How often are the tests held?
A: The written tests are administered in May and November of each year. Specific locations can be obtained from ASE by calling (703) 669-6600. Testing registration deadlines can also be obtained at this same number. Computer-Based Testing (CBT) is also available; contact ASE for details.
Q: How do I get my test results?
A: Test results are typically available within 4-6 weeks of taking the test. If you have not received them, you need to contact ASE directly by calling them at (703) 669-6600.

Q: Do you accept purchase orders?
A: Motor Age Training and Mitchell 1 will accept purchase orders for training manuals if the order is being placed by a government agency or a school. The Purchase Order must accompany the product order or it will not be processed. All orders must be submitted by mail or fax and cannot be placed via telephone.
Q: Do Motor Age Training and Mitchell 1 charge sales tax?
A: Residents of CA, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA and TX must pay applicable sales tax.
Q: Do I still have to pay the state sales tax if I am a tax-exempt business?
A: No, however you are required to provide us with a copy of your state tax-exempt certificate along with your order. If you currently have a tax exempt certificate on file with us, you may place an order via telephone. If not, your order must be mailed or faxed to us at (218) 740-6437. Please include your payment information and a copy of your tax exemption certificate.
Q: Do I get a discount if I buy multiple books or sets of books?
A: Yes, discounts are offered for bulk purchases, starting with a minimum purchase of 10 sets or 100 individual guides. For further information, contact James Hwang at jhwang@advanstar.com.
Q: Which shipping options are available?
A: All ASE Study Guides are sent via UPS and as a result cannot be delivered to a PO Box. Because a signature is required at the time of delivery, please provide a ship-to address where an attendant will be able to sign for your product.

Orders that are undeliverable because no one is available to sign for the package will be returned to Advanstar. You may request re-shipment to a different address and pay the additional shipping charges. Or, you may have it re-sent 'signature release'. Orders sent signature release will not be replaced if the package is not received. Additional copies may be purchased again at the buyer's expense, including shipping & handling.
Q: Will you accept Motor Age Training and Mitchell 1 ASE Study Guide orders from a correction facility including state or federal prisons?
A: Yes, however all orders must indicate that delivery is to a correctional facility so that the spiral bindings can be removed before shipping. A $20 charge will be assessed for orders of complete sets. Individual book orders will not be charged a fee for binding removal. Orders sent to correctional facilities are shipped via the U.S. Postal Service as most facilities will not accept UPS deliveries.
Note: Mitchell 1 study guides do not have spiral bindings and will not be assessed the $20 charge for orders of complete sets.
Q: Are the ASE Study Guides refundable?
A: Yes. If for any reason you are not satisfied, you may return your order within 30 days of purchase for a full refund minus shipping & handling. In order to receive your refund, the returned study guide MUST BE IN RESALABLE CONDITION. Damaged returns will not be refunded.

Q: How does the Pass or Don't Pay work?
A: As a testament to our confidence in our study guides, we offer a money-back guarantee! Guides must be purchased during the current ASE testing season in order to qualify. Then, should you not pass, just send us a copy of your test results by January 31, 2009 and we'll refund the entire cost of your self-study guide, less S&H.
